Right after I posted about you not yet climbing into dangerous situations I walked in and saw this...

2nd Halloween

Your Noni's birthday is October 31...which also happens to be a holiday that is quite popular...people dress up in costumes and ask people for candy.  It's called Trick-or-Treating.  This year, it was on a Monday...we didn't celebrate.  But, on Sunday we did celebrate your Noni!  It was so cold at the park and thankfully we were able to keep you warm in your costume that your cousin Julie gave you.

Happy Little Dinosaur!  You were the hit of the park!  Everyone was watching you crawl all over.

Wagon

This boy loves his wagon! He climbs in (all by himself!) and just plays and plays.  He also likes to go on walks in it. :)

13 months

You are signing "more," "milk" and "all done."

Someone had a rough nap...

You play peek-a-boo with your hands over your face, clap, wave and just starting raising your arms above your head when we say touchdown.  

New favorite place to play...you climb in all by yourself!  In this pic you had rocked it back...

Your first word was "da da!"  Yes, you started out just saying the syllables...not knowing what it meant or who it was.  Now, you know exactly who your "Dada" is!  You say it when you see him and when I say it during the day you quickly look at the front door waiting for him to come through the door.  (This kinda makes me feel sad since he doesn't come so I don't do it very often.)  You also say "bye-bye."  The other day you were in your high chair and we were eating breakfast as your Daddy was leaving for work.  Before anyone even told you what was going on you started waving and saying, "Bye-bye Dada."  Sweet Boy!!  I think you actually have mouthed-whispered Mama. :)

You are still such an easy-going, laid-back baby!  You are content playing by yourself, reading books with us or in a crowded room.

You climb and crawl up and into whatever you can.  You can't climb high/well enough (like out of the crib or onto high furniture) to get yourself in dangerous situations...yet.

You love when someone gets on their hands and knees to crawl with you.  Often, I will get down and start crawling toward you and you will laugh and crawl super fast in my direction.  Then, you tackle me and we just laugh.  You will also race...and it's really funny and fun. :)

Sweet boy!

You know exactly what to do with a phone and on the vary rare occasion that I have unintentionally left my phone where you can reach it and you get your hands on it, you smile with such great pleasure and put it right to your ear.

Still loves strolling

When you want to...you give great squeezes and sweet sugar.  Only sometimes are your hugs and kisses followed by a little bite on the shoulder or cheek. :/

When you hear music or ringing/chiming you bob/shake your head.

You cruise all along the furniture and still have no desire to walk.  I'm quite ok with that right now. :)

One Year Photo Shoot

We have a friend of a friend who takes great pictures, so we did a little shoot with her and got some great pictures...

Oh my goodness. :)

Just as I was feeling discouraged because the magazines and such say you should be following commands and signing by now and it just wasn't seeming like you were "getting it" ... "it" clicked!


Right now you are pretty proficient in "put the bean bag in the bucket" and "give the bean bag to Mommy."  You also will "roll" and "throw" the ball to your Daddy or me when we ask you to or when you are ready to play.  I use "" because rolling and throwing are actually really cute hand offs or tosses that go backwards.  You haven't quite figured out the release function. :)

You also obey when you are told that, "We do not eat books.  Please do not put the book in your mouth."

My favorite is, "Pick out a book and bring it to me and I will read it to you."  You smile, crawl the happy-elephant-swaying-trot over to the shelf, get a book and then speed crawl over to me with so much barely containable excitement that you sometimes fall over.  Then you crawl up in my lap and usually sit and listen while turing the pages.  After we finish, you obey the command to, "Please put the book back on the shelf," only sometimes needing a little help getting the book put back.  We usually repeat this a few times and then it's onto something else.

This morning you signed MORE!  It was really cute....it was a half clap, half more sign but you knew what you were "saying."  I haven't been super diligent with teaching signs so I shouldn't have been so hard on myself that you weren't doing any.  C'est la vie...

(P.S. I realized a long time ago that I should pay no attention to those magazines and such...doesn't mean I've stopped looking...)
