A day

Well, today was one of those days.  We all have them from time to time, right?  I've discovered that I have a choice in how I respond and that response determines how the day continues and ends.

The parking lot in front of our apartment is being resurfaced.  The little guy's afternoon nap just wasn't happening.  The water went off...just as I was starting a load of laundry.  What?!

Loud noises and fumes+no water+baby that needs to sleep but isn't sleeping=we are leaving the house.

So, we ended up here using coupons and one of us napped while the other enjoyed an outing and no fumes or trucks.

Then we strolled through some stores and bought a cute boy baby shirt for $2.61.

Then we saw the ocean.  This photo does not do it justice.  Every time I catch a glimpse of the ocean it literally takes my breath away.  Still.  And, I am really blessed to get to see the ocean a lot.  Wow.  God created the ocean and saw that it was good.  I agree.

Then we picked up our vegetable box.  Asparagus, zucchini, strawberries and many more goodies.

We came home to water, a rested baby and many other blessings.  This was a good day.

Food Days

So far he has eaten avocado, banana, plain yogurt, homemade rice cereal, applesauce and sweet potatoes.  I think applesauce is his current favorite with sweet potatoes coming in second, even though he only had them for the first time tonight.  He likes yogurt, seemed ok with the rice and does not appear to care too much for bananas.  As much as I want him to love avocado (and thought he did love it the first time we gave him food), I do not think he is a fan.

Hey, there's nothin' on this spoon!

Somebody feed me!

Yum...yogurt

Do I have to eat more?  (This is right after he "shivered" at the tartness!)

Enjoy this...Mama worked hard grinding the grain and cooking it.

Eh...it's just so-so.

This!  This is what I've been waitin' for!

Despite the pucker, I think applesauce is his fav.

The Park

Now, my Mama and I do more than just walk around the park...we swing!

Mama's sayin' weeeeeeeee...maybe I should, too!

Nah, I think I'll just hang out right here.

Weeeeee?

What's going on over there?

Whoa!  I might need some sunglasses.

I love to swing

Precious-head ;)

I love his little arm propped up on the side!  (He did that all by himself!)

Laundry=Play

Who needs all those expensive toys from BRU anyway?!

7 months

So, we finally had our 6 month check up!  I really dislike shots but we decided they were best for our boy.  He does so well with them!  Today, as the tech was getting ready he kinda started whimpering.  I can't watch and just bury my head into him, trying to keep him from moving and seeing what's going on and soothing him (and myself too!).  He screamed when she did the first two (she did them so fast I didn't notice she had done two) and then stopped.  Then screamed when she did # 3 and then he was done.  Like nothing ever happened!  What?!?  Whew, that kind of reaction is good for my worried mommy heart.  He hasn't shown any other after shot symptoms so I'm thankful for that.

He weighed 15 pounds 5 ounces and was 27 inches long.  Not up too much from two months ago but the doc wasn't worried.  She wants to see us at 9 months...and there will be NO shots that time!

More about our boy:
-I think he has stopped sucking his thumb!  He usually would only suck it when he was tired/ready to go to sleep or going to sleep.  The last several days I haven't seem him doing it.  Maybe he bit himself with his new tooth so he stopped!
-He is still "laid back" and so happy!
-Still quite loud and has really started squealing and doing this funny grunt-growl noise.
-One of my favorite things is that when I hold him on my hip he rests his arm around my shoulder and will pat my back.  (I need to get a photo or video b/c I love it!)

Snuggles with JS
They are finally back in California!  Over the next 3 years my boy is going to spend so much time at EAFB that he will be confused about where his real home is.  I should have taken more pictures...

Won't you be my neighbor?

We've lived in our apartment for almost two years.  For the first 1 1/2 + our neighbor was a lady who checked out her shoes every time we were around and only spoke to us once when we were leaving when she was coming home and she couldn't avoid us.  All that to say...she wasn't the friendliest.  A couple of months ago we got a new neighbor and we spoke to him way more in the first week that he lived here than we ever spoke to the first neighbor.  He is a student from Iran and is super smiley and friendly.  He's learning English so I'm often reminded of my time in France.  We've been wanting to have him over for dinner but...you know how it goes...it just hasn't happened.  Well, his mom is now staying with him and we exchange pleasantries through the windows.  I've been wanting to have her over for tea, alas, that hasn't happened either.  Today, they beat me to the punch...She knocked on our door with this fun little snack!

Guess who I'm inviting over for tea when I return the dishes! ;)

1st April Fools= Teeth

On April 1, 2011 I noticed this little blue eyed wonder had a sharp white thing breaking through his bottom gums. No fooling!!

As of April 15 # 1 is about 2/3 of the way in and # 2 was busting through!

Sorry, he's keeping those teeth locked up with his lips.  Soon that sweet, gummy grin will be a thing of the past.

For now, we have Sophie!  (Thanks to some sweet friends who loaned her to us.)  He has been a great little teether!  Only a few night wakings...that may are may not be attributed to teething.
